The Multico M2693D collet holds the auger in Model M and early MCD mortisers. It is 19 mm across the outside, with a ½″ bore for augers of ⅝″ (16 mm) and up whose shanks are machined to ½″.
Grind a flat on the auger where the collet's screw bears, so it can't slip.
