Multico vacuum press, complete kit, 400 × 200 cm

A vacuum bag veneering kit with a 400 × 200 cm bag, for panels too wide for the 150 cm bags.

Why vacuum rather than clamps? Once the air is out, atmospheric pressure acts evenly over the whole surface, about 8.5 tonnes per square metre at the 150 mbar the Becker VT 4.8 reaches, so a wide panel needs no rows of clamps.

In the kit:

• a polyurethane bag, 0.5 mm thick;
• a Becker VT 4.8 vacuum pump;
• a pump-to-bag connection hose;
• a connection valve;
• a bag closing system;
• a rubber gasket;
• breather mesh.

Water-based glues, urea-formaldehyde or a veneer-grade PVA, give their water up to the wood as they cure under the bag. Keep contact cement and hot-melt out of it: neither works under vacuum.
